Appearance
Inserting Hyperlinks (Desktop)
What it is: A way to place a clickable link on a working paper that jumps directly to another document or journal entry within the same client file.
What it's for
Navigating between related documents — for example, jumping from a lead schedule to the supporting working paper or journal entry — is faster with hyperlinks. Instead of scrolling through the file index, a reviewer or preparer can click the hyperlink and go there instantly.
How to do it
Link to Another Document
- Select Hyperlinks under Shortcuts or on the black navigation bar.
- Browse to the target document in the list and double-click it.
- A hyperlink is inserted at the current position. Clicking it opens the target document.
- Example: Insert a hyperlink to the Fixed Asset Register on the PP&E lead schedule.
Link to a Journal Entry
- Select Hyperlinks on the black navigation bar.
- Choose Adjustments to link to a journal entry, or Show/Hide Documents to link to a document.
- Select the journal you want to link to.
- A hyperlink to that journal is inserted on the current working paper.
- Example: Insert a hyperlink to a journal entry on the Retained Income lead schedule.
- Clicking the hyperlink opens the journal directly.
